Fear and Freedom
I often ask myself (and God) this question: Am I getting it?
Once I place my faith and trust in Christ alone, now what? How do I apply it? How do I know if I'm doing life the right way?
Let me give you two thoughts as you fight this good fight:
1. Satan is real.
He doesn't follow any rules. His only goal is to keep you away from Jesus. He knows the rest will take care of itself.
2. God is real.
The invitation, and hence the "practice," is to enter into your relationship with God.
God exists in a perfect community of Three. In a very real sense, we are invited into this perfect community group. It has been said (and it's true) that, "You are who you hang out with." The book of Proverbs is all over that. We are told that Moses' face would shine after he spent time with God (Exodus 34:29-35).
For us, after we spend time with God, our lives should reflect it. We take the time spent in perfect community and pour ourselves into the imperfect community of the world in which we live. We practice loving others the way God loved us by putting the needs of others ahead of our own.
That is the message of I Corinthians 8-10.
