Blessed Are the Peacemakers
As I've gotten older (I know, I've been talking about that a lot lately), the one thing that seems increasingly difficult to find and hold onto is "peace". In a world that seems so filled with stress and chaos, how can I find peace?
We all long for it--that sense that all is well. The Hebrews had a word for it--Shalom. The way “shalom” is used does not mean to feel calm nor the absence of conflict. Instead shalom, peace, is the result of right relationships with God, one another, and with creation. The concept of peace is wholeness in all of life.
This past week, we have been blessed to have another group of fellow apprentices to Jesus come and help with ongoing hurricane relief. In a very real sense...to bring "shalom" to those still in dire need.
I asked the Pastor of this group (a close personal friend), Rick Holman, if he'd share the message with us this week(a slight pause from I Corinthians). He's going to unpack the idea of peace and our role in that. I know you'll be encouraged. I hope you can join us in person or online.
