Disillusioned with God
I'm a newcomer to the South...and I love it here. As a newby, I'm way behind on my cultural orientation. A few years ago I asked a gal from the south how churches celebrate Easter. Without hesitation she smiled and said, "You mean church prom?"
Easter is a big deal for followers of Jesus. Arguably, it's much bigger than a prom, but my friend was on to something. Easter is the season we reflect on the resurrection of our Savior. It begins this Sunday with what has been called Palm Sunday--the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey...a celebration to the King.
But something happened--the Jesus that rode into town was not the Jesus they were expecting. They were looking for someone to become like King David and restore the strength and power of Israel. Instead they got a King who would get arrested, tried and killed.
Have you ever been disillusioned with God? When life doesn't go as we think it should, it's easy to begin to wonder if God really is God. Is God really good? Can He be trusted?
