foster care 2026

Homes for hope

The foster care system is broken and kids are paying the price. And it’s not one person or agency’s fault. When kids are moved from home to home, separated from their siblings, and pulled out of their schools and communities, it leaves them without the stability and care they need to grow and heal.

We believe there is a better way. Partnering with the Homes for Hope helps vulnerable kids experience safety, stability, and a future filled with hope. Our commitment is simple. We support kids in ways that honor who they are, where they come from, and who they love. Our approach keeps kids with their siblings, in their schools, and in their communities while giving them a true home.

We keep siblings together.
We keep kids in the school they're already in.
We keep kids in their local communities.
We maximize county resources.
We provide family based care.
We give kids a home, not just a place to live.

my village asheville

My Village Asheville (MVA) seeks to come alongside families in crisis and provide community and support to help them get to the other side. We do this by placing children with host families for a short period of time, providing coaching and training for parents, and welcoming those who are isolated into a Christ-centered community.

MVA was started by a small staff and a large network of churches who wanted to provide holistic care to families in crisis. We believe that difficult circumstances reach a breaking point when you are socially isolated. We also believe that the local church has a community ready to go to meet that need.
We seek to provide family preservation through Biblical hospitality. When a family is facing a crisis that makes it difficult for them to care for their children, they can call our referral line and find a host family that is able to host their children for a short period of time until they are back on their feet. During this time, the referring parent never loses custody of their children and has the right to be reunited with them whenever they desire. They will also be able to remain in close contact with them throughout the hosting.

Main Objectives:

To provide family support and stabilization.
To prevent childhood abuse and neglect.
To prevent unnecessary foster care placements.
To prevent, reduce, and repair childhood trauma.
To provide holistic care.

black mountain home
for Children, Youth, & Families

Black Mountain Home for Children is a Christ-centered ministry that cares for children who have been placed into foster care through the court system and DSS. Their campus includes six residential cottages with the capacity to serve up to 60 children, and they partner with dozens of foster families who provide loving homes for children in need. Yet despite these efforts, the need continues to outpace the available resources. Every week, counties across North Carolina contact Black Mountain Home seeking placement for children entering foster care. Far too often, those requests must be declined because there simply are not enough foster families or available beds to meet the need.  This is a sobering reality.

While not everyone is called to become a foster parent, every follower of Christ is called to care for the vulnerable. That care may take many forms: praying for foster families, providing meals, offering respite care, mentoring children, supporting foster parents, giving financially, or helping spread awareness. Each act of support helps create a stronger network of care for children who desperately need stability, hope, and love.

Consider this: North Carolina is home to more than 11,000 churches and approximately 10,000–11,000 children currently in foster care. If each church helped raise up just one foster family, the impact would be extraordinary. The Church could help ensure that every child in foster care has the opportunity to experience the love, security, and support of a Christian home. Please join us in praying, sharing, supporting, and considering how God might use you to make a difference in the life of a child in foster care.
